Each poster was peer-selected through a competitive abstract process. Authors have created short 3-5 minute videos of them talking about their poster that can be viewed by clicking on the video links on each page.

Clinical Reasoning Assessment During Virtual Patient Encounters For Transition To Residency

Dr. Raja-Elie Abdulnour

Dr. Abdulnour is a physician-educator and investigator with an active medical practice in an academic hospital and continuous teaching responsibilities. Drawing on his expertise in clinical science, research, teaching, and innovation, Raja-Elie worked with NEJM Group to prototype educational simulation-based software that teaches clinical reasoning and medical uncertainty. In January of 2020, he joined the NEJM Group as Director of Educational Innovation to help further develop this and other educational tools.
Effective Patient Handoff Methods & Implementations for 4th-Year Medical Students

Dr. Aesha Aboueisha, MD

Aesha Aboueisha is an Internal Medicine Chief Resident at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (UTMB). She is also on the course committee of the Transition to Residency Course that was recently implemented at UTMB this past year. Her passion for Education and ensuring patient safety are combined in this workshop that was created to ensure that medical students are prepared for safer and effective patient handoffs as they enter the next part of their training.

Dr. Lucy Y. Chang, MD

Dr. Lucy Y. Chang, MD, MSci is a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and practices in the nursery and clinic at Bellevue Hospital (the oldest public hospital in the US). She is the founding co-director of the Transition to Residency elective along with her co-author Dr. Abigail Ford Winkel in 2014. Outside of work, she enjoys singing praise songs and sharing about her favorite book Soul Care by Dr. Rob Reimer.

Dr. Christopher Edwards

Christopher Edwards is a 3rd year internal medicine resident at the University of Michigan. He intends to work in the field of hospital medicine upon completion of his residency training. Dr. Edwards has a passion for teaching and is excited to be working alongside his faculty mentor Dr. Lauren Heidemann to help prepare medical students for residency.

Dr. Jennifer Hasvold, MD

Dr. Hasvold received her M.D. from the University of Michigan in 2010 and completed her residency there in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in 2014. Since 2014 she has worked as a hospitalist at Monument Health where she has the privilege of taking care of patients from across western South Dakota, her home state. She loves working with and expanding educational opportunities for students in her role as clinical assistant professor and Pillar 3 director with the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.

Dr. Jeffrey Manko, MD

Jeffrey Manko, MD is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the NYUGSOM. After being the Program Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency at NYU/Bellevue, he became the Director of GME Professional Development and Well-being for the NYUGSOM. He is also the Director of GME/CME Medical Education at the New York Simulation Center, as well as a faculty advisor, mentor, and coach in the medical school’s Violet Society Program. Jeff’s lifetime achievements were recognized by his receiving the NYU Distinction in Education Award for his outstanding contribution to the institution’s educational mission.
Handoff Simulation: Fake it Until I-PASS It

Maninder Singh is an Affiliated Medical Assistant Professor at the CUNY School of Medicine. He currently serves as Director of Healthcare Simulation at Jacobi Medical Center. Drs. Saini and McNulty are PGY2 emergency medicine residents at Jacobi Medical Center. Dr. Restivo, Dr. Silverberg, Dr. Ahmed, and Dr. Moss are all a core part of the Jacobi Simulation Division. Dr. Auerbach is an assistant dean at CUNY School of Medicine. Dr. Meguerdichian is the clinical co-director of the simulation center at Health + Hospitals. We would also like to thank Dr. Jeremy Sperling for his sponsorship of our project.
